CHARACTER INFO
Name: Ghoulia Yelps
Gender: Female
Source: Monster High
Canon point: Pre-Ghouls Rule.
Age: 16, in monster years.
Colour: #DD0000
Chumhandle: deadSlow

History: Ghoulia does not have a very vast or expansion history, to her own knowledge. She was human, once upon a time, but since turning (through illness or death, she's yet to discover) Ghoulia remembers very little of her old life. As far as she's concerned, she's a zombie and that is that. Most of her history lies in who she has met. Closer to her early school career, she met Cleo de Nile, who took her "under her wing," in a way. Cleo is one of the first people that Ghoulia has met that understands zombie, and in meeting her Ghoulia became much more outgoing. Cleo refused to allow the zombie girl to stay in the background.

While Ghoulia has gone through much, most of her personal experiences have soured her perceptions of "normies;" non-magical/supernatural humans. In one escapade, there was even a risk of being captured and put on as a sideshow display, along with her other friends. At this point in canon, she does not trust them until proven otherwise.

Personality: While Ghoulia isn't a wallflower, she's definitely not a social butterfly. She is generally friendly towards others, but becomes a little irate when people cannot understand her, or even tell her to "speak something other than zombie." (Nearly impossible; zombies can't just magically adjust their entire anatomy just for ONE PERSON'S INCONVENIENCE.)

As noted; she is distrustful of normies. If she can help it, Ghoulia would prefer to keep her identity as a zombie secret for her own safety. People in her town tend to get a little trigger happy when they see her.

It's pretty difficult to demoralize her; she's willing to compromise or stop production on a project completely if circumstances call for it, but defeat is not an option. She is highly intelligent, and while sometimes she doubts it herself, it doesn't stop her from aspiring to great heights. Such as: creating her own "graphic novel" series, curing tuberculosis, and so on.

She's a major comic fan -- but takes great offense to being called a "nerd" or a "geek." (Mostly due to the negative connotation of the words, and not because SHE TOTALLY IS ONE.) Her favorite comic hero is a zombie boy named DeadFast, who was bitten by a radioactive hummingbird and now can go REALLY FUCKING FAST.

(Ghoulia will fucking fight you if you imply in any way that he's just a mishmash of Spiderman and the Flash. She entirely has a Deadfast costume, and someday wishes to be JUST AS SPEEDY without her scooter.)

(God he's such a babe.)

While Ghoulia has a sharp tongue ON OCCASION, she is sophisticated and proper. Her parents raised her well.

Things she enjoys include: fast food, the color red, and having a neat and nice schedule. She cannot perform well under stress, and is unable to react quickly.

Abilities & physical limitations: Ghoulia, as a zombie, is incredibly slow. She has been able to run on occassion, but these events are few and far in between. Even after running, she becomes easily exhausted; so in general, Ghoulia avoids it as much as she can. She is unable to jump, and has poor lung capacity, as said lungs are somewhat in a constant state of decay. However, it's fairly hard to knock her down for the count; lighter bullets and most types of blades don't exactly phase her. This isn't to say they bounce right off; but they don't effect her productivity too much. Otherwise, she is fairly strong. Ghoulia can lift heavier objects; but don't expect her to go around throwing cars around.

tl;dr: Ghoulia is extremely slow and unable to jump, and has only ran perhaps once or twice. She is also unphased by most attacks, but is not invunerable, invincible, or immortal. She has above-average strength, but is not super-human.

Appearance: Ghoulia has light grey skin, streaky blue hair, and blue eyes. She is usually slouching in some manner or form, and can also be characterized by the lack of muscle control she has in her face.

Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable: N/A.

Strife Specibus: batKind; as in a baseball bat. She is not literally flinging living/dead bats around.
Prototyping: Loving Mombie
Title: Parish of Decay
In-game abilities: She has the ability to "destroy" or decay objects; as she levels, this can increase from an innate knowledge of how to rust metal quickly and efficiently, for example, to being able to cause the rust by touching the object. Ghoulia is only able to use this on non-living constructs until she ascends -- even after that, it is slow and requires physical contact.

Bertie's Sacrifice powers will not heal her wounds, however. They will merely cause him to begin to rot.

Planet: The Land of Monochrome and Skyscrapers (LOMAS) is very much a desolate cityscape, lacking in any sort of color. But things weren't always that way, if Ghoulia's hummingbird consorts are to be believed. All the "life" was draining from the land after a villain known only as The Crow took over, and became the appointed denizen. Until recently, he had mostly taken to terrorizing the consorts physically and stealing from the businesses with his minions, but more and more hummingbirds are disappearing; only to show up again without their brilliant plumage and with a distinctly more sinister personality. Rumors spread about a hero destined to save the city, but can anyone be trusted?

RP Sample: Really, of course not. What had Ghoulia expected? Of course her parents couldn't let her go to Comicon. It was a selfish request in hindsight; work for zombies was low, anomosity between monsters and normies was near an all time high, and it just wasn't safe. It wasn't an unfair denial; she knows that. It's just...

Ghoulia looked at her sketches again. The artist and author of Deadfast was going to be there! She could get his autograph! And maybe people were right, and he was entirely for equal rights for monsters! Ghoulia could get behind that. And as impossible as it might have been to acheive, there was even going to be an auction for charity. The prize? The original issue zero of Deadfast, in mint condition. Maybe if she got lucky, she could have won.

But that was all six feet under, now. Ghoulia was stuck at home this summer, and as much as she wanted to undie, she had work to do anyway, right? Another "genius" invention for the science fair, more classes to plan for, and Cleo wanted to go to the maul's big sale. Ghoulia could always wear her costume another time.

But for now, maybe it wouldn't hurt if she just... rested her eyes... for a little bit.
